State-Specific Privacy Notice

1. Overview and Legal Disclosures
This State-Specific Privacy Notice supplements the ReportYourRent.com, LLC (“ReportYourRent,” “RYR,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) Privacy Policy. It applies to individuals who reside in states that have enacted comprehensive consumer privacy laws, specifically California, Colorado, Connecticut, Montana, Oregon, Texas, Utah and Virginia. Each state provides residents with unique rights and protections concerning their personal information or personal data, and this document outlines those rights, along with how we comply with each state’s legal obligations.
When you use, access or interact with any of our services you are consenting to receive legally required disclosures and notices regarding your personal and financial privacy electronically. This includes communications regarding your rights under applicable privacy laws, the data we collect, and how that data is used or shared.
If you are not a resident of one of the states listed in this Notice, your rights and the protections that apply to your personal information may differ. However, all users are still subject to the terms and protections outlined in our general Privacy Policy.
2. California Residents
2.1 Scope and Applicability
This section applies exclusively to individuals who reside in the State of California and is intended to meet the requirements of the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA).
For the purpose of this section, the term “Personal Information” has the meaning defined under the CCPA/CPRA. Generally, it refers to information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular California consumer or household. It does not include information that is publicly available from government records, de-identified or aggregated in accordance with legal standards, or otherwise excluded from the scope of CCPA, such as information governed by federal laws like the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) may be exempt from some CPA provisions.
Please note that ReportYourRent may rely on certain statutory exemptions under the CCPA/CPRA when handling specific types of personal information or categories of users.
2.2 Personal Information We Collect and Use
ReportYourRent collects personal information from California residents. This includes information collected directly from you, automatically through your interaction with our services and from third-party partners such as your name, address, email address, account login credentials, Social Security number, and phone number. Commercial information, including records of services you’ve used, financial products you’ve accessed through our platform, and preferences you’ve expressed. Internet or electronic activity, such as your interactions with our websites or apps, IP address, device information, browsing behavior, and cookie data. Geolocation data, which may be derived from your IP address or device settings. Inferences derived from the above data to create a user profile reflecting your preferences, behavior or predicted interests.
We use this information to provide and maintain your user account; deliver credit-related services and monitoring features; customize your experience and recommend relevant financial products; conduct analytics and improve platform functionality; communicate with you regarding updates, alerts or offers; comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms of service; detect fraud, security threats or other malicious activity. We may disclose this information to service providers, affiliates, credit bureaus, or partners, consistent with our Privacy Policy.
2.2 Personal Information We Collect and Use
As a California resident, you have specific legal rights regarding your personal information. While these rights are not absolute and may be limited under certain conditions, we are committed to enabling you to exercise them where applicable.
You may request that we disclose specific details about our data practices over the past 12 months, including:
- Identifiers, such as your name, address, email address, account login credentials, Social Security number, and phone number.
- Commercial information, including records of services you’ve used, financial products you’ve accessed through our platform, and preferences you’ve expressed.
- Internet or electronic activity such as your interactions with our websites or apps, IP address, device information, browsing behavior, and cookie data.
- Geolocation data, which may be derived from your IP address or device settings.
- Professional or employment-related information.
- Inferences, derived from the above data to create a user profile reflecting your preferences, behavior, or predicted interests.
You have the right to request correction of inaccurate personal information maintained in your account. Most information can be updated directly within your account settings.
You may request deletion of personal information you have provided. We will comply unless we are required or permitted by law to retain it (e.g., for fraud prevention or legal compliance). You may initiate deletion by emailing your request to staterequest@reportyourrent.com. If we decline your request, you will be notified and provided with instructions on how to appeal the decision.
ReportYourRent does not sell personal information in exchange for money. However, we do engage in interest-based advertising which may qualify as “sharing” under the CCPA. You may opt out of this type of sharing.
You have the right to receive services on equal terms regardless of whether you exercise your privacy rights. We will never deny services, charge you different prices or alter your experience as a result of exercising your rights under the CCPA.
Before we fulfill any request, we may need to verify your identity. If you have an account with us, we may ask you to log in or confirm certain information we already have on file. If you do not have an account or if your account appears compromised, we may ask for additional verification information.
You may also authorize another person or agent to submit a request on your behalf. In such cases, the agent must provide documentation showing they are legally authorized to act for you. If that authority is not established under a valid power of attorney, we may require you to confirm your identity directly and validate that you gave permission to the agent.
3. Colorado, Connecticut, Montana, Oregon, Texas, Utah and Virginia Residents
3.1 Scope and Applicability
This section applies only to residents of Colorado, Connecticut, Montana, Oregon, Texas, Utah and Virginia. For purposes of this section, “Personal Data” means any information that is linked or reasonably linkable to an identified or identifiable individual. This does not include de-identified data, publicly available information or data that falls under other legal exemptions such as information governed by federal laws like the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA).
3.2 Your Rights Under the CDPA
Right to Access
You have the right to confirm whether we are processing your personal data and to access that data. If requested, we will provide you with a copy of the personal data we have collected, along with information about how we use and disclose it.
Right to Correct
You may request that we correct inaccurate personal data maintained in your ReportYourRent account. Most basic information such as your contact details can be corrected directly through your online account. For more complex data corrections, you can submit a verified request.
Right to Delete
You have the right to request deletion of personal data you have provided to us or that we have collected from you. We will honor deletion requests unless retention is required or permitted by law.
Right to Opt Out of Targeted Advertising
ReportYourRent works with advertising providers to deliver more relevant ads. The CDPA gives you the right to opt out of targeted advertising which involves the use of your personal data across websites and services to predict your interests. To opt out, you may:
- Visit the “Manage Cookies”.
- Enable an opt-out preference signal through your browser, such as the Global Privacy Control.
Right to Opt Out of Profiling
You have the right to opt out of profiling — the automated processing of your personal data to evaluate personal aspects such as your financial situation, interests, behavior or location — if that profiling produces legal or similarly significant effects.
Sensitive Data Consent
You have the right to grant or withhold consent for the processing of sensitive personal data where applicable under state laws.
Right to Non-Discrimination
You have the right to use the above privacy rights without fear of discrimination. We will not deny you access to services, offer different pricing, or degrade the quality of your experience because you exercised your rights under the CDPA.
3.3 How to Submit a Request
You may exercise your rights under the CDPA by emailing us at staterequest@reportyourrent.com. If your request is denied, you will be notified and provided the opportunity to appeal the decision, as required by law.
